Week 1
It has been a week since I planted my “bonsai” seeds from the Bonsai Tree Starter Kit. Please check out my post Bonsai Tree Starter Kit – Natureit – Unboxing & Setup if you are interested in seeing what comes in the NatureIt Bonsai Kit and how I prepared and planted the seeds.
The seeds were kept under a grow light for at least 10 hours / day. I am using the lights from my AeroGarden Harvest that I am currently not using for anything else. The ZipLoc bags have been kept on the pots for the whole time and are only removed for watering.

I am watering the seeds every other day using a spray bottle.
Here is the current status for each seed:
Blue Spruce | Black Spruce | Siberian Elm | Loblolly Pine |
Germination after 6 days | Germination after 8 days | No germination yet | No germination yet |
6 seeds have sprouted | 4 seeds have sprouted | Nothing has sprouted | Nothing has sprouted |
Below are pictures were taken of the seedlings after 8 days
Week 2
The seedlings are growing fast and a few more have sprouted. I am still keeping them covered under the grow light and water/mist them daily. The Loblolly Pine seeds germinated in the second week, so far one seed has come up, but that is quite a bit sooner than the 3-4 weeks estimated in the instructions booklet.
Blue Spruce | Black Spruce | Siberian Elm | Loblolly Pine |
Germination after 6 days | Germination after 8 days | No germination yet | Germination after 11 days |
6 seeds have sprouted | 5 seeds have sprouted | Nothing has sprouted | 1 seed has sprouted |
